Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It is neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The motor neurons travel from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles in the body. The progressive deterioration of the motor neurons in ALS finally lead to their death.
